Safety is everybody's business. In fact, we make it a part of how we do business.
Our aim is to maintain excellent safety performance and reduce risk to our employees, contractors, suppliers and customers. We have a responsibility to implement appropriate OH&S standards and procedures so we continually review them to ensure the proper policies are in place.
We are committed to meeting this goal through a focus on behavourial safety initiatives supported by senior management leadership, cultural change strategies, and leading edge management systems.
Our Health and Safety Policy sets the framework for us to create a work environment conducive to high levels of safety performance through demonstrated commitment and safe behaviours from our employees across the business.
Safety at AAco Management System
We are developing and implementing a management system to proactively minimise safety risks and ensure that all incidents are dealt with thoroughly. This system has been aligned to AS4801 and any issues, actions, or improvements identified by workers and others are included into policies, procedures and training courses.
Safety Inductions
Our employee induction program incorporates a 'safety induction' that educates our staff about AAco OH&S standards and the safety rules and risks associated with their workplace.
Safety Inductions are compulsory at every level of our business and for every type of role be it casual, permanent or work experience. They must be conducted prior to staff commencing any tasks.
Incident Reporting
AAco has a strict policy of safety incident reporting. Any unplanned events that cause or could cause harm are defined as safety incidents.
So that we can continue to improve the safety of our workplaces, we require all incidents, no matter how minor they may seem, to be reported whether or not someone is injured.
Youth Roundtable
AAco held a youth roundtable at Wrotham Park Station on 10 June 2005 with the objective of
“Advancing the partnership for employers and employees in providing safe rural workplaces”.
The Youth Roundtable was designed to benefit employees and the community through enhancing industry awareness of workplace health and safety issues, especially as they apply to younger employees and achieving greater overall compliance with workplace health and safety laws
The roundtable was facilitated by Garry (Gus) Saunders, Senior Consultant NSCA (National Safety Council of Australia). Participants included young employees from Wrotham Park Station, North Australian Helicopters, Wrotham Park Lodge and industry representation from FarmSafe and Workplace Health and Safety QLD.
