Mick Tasker - Manager Camfield and Regional Manager Victoria River Group
Mick Tasker was born in Kyogle, NSW. Mick’s career in the cattle industry began at the age of 17, as a jackeroo on Banka Banka Station, north of Tennant Creek. At the age of 21 he met his future wife, Kathy, and Mick was soon promoted to the position of headstockman. In 1987, Banka was sold and Mick and Kathy transferred to Clonagh Station, which was then owned by Waxahachie. AAco subsequently purchased Clonagh. In 1992, Mick and his family transferred to Gregory Downs with AAco, taking on the headstockman position.
After 16 enjoyable months on Gregory Downs, Mick and his family left the company to work as overseer on Wave Hill, in the Victoria River region of the NT. They spent 20 months on Wave Hill and added to their family. In December 1994 Mick was promoted to Manager, Oban, south of Mt Isa. After eighteen months on Oban, and the next addition to their family, the Taskers returned to the employment of AAco.
Mick was appointed to the position of Assistant Manager, Canobie. In December 1999, after 3 ½ years in the Assistant Manager position, Mick was promoted to Manager, Kalmeta Station. Three years later, Mick was appointed Manager, Gregory Downs Station – a move which the whole family enjoyed. After 2 short years at Gregory, Mick was promoted to Regional Manager of the newly acquired Victoria River Group in the NT. Mick and his family transferred and took up residence at Camfield Station.
Mick enjoys camp drafting and other community events and has been on the committees of various community sporting clubs.
