Introduction to the AAco Breeder Alliance Program
(Thursday 8th July, 2010)
To increase the quantity and quality of cattle under AAco management, AAco announced an exciting new Breeder Alliance Program (BAP) at their Annual General Meeting of 19th May, 2010. The Breeder Alliance Program will be developed in 2010, with the support of AAco's bankers and preferred stock agencies.
Under this program, AAco will form business agreements with specialist cattle breeders (Alliance Partners) to lease pregnancy-tested mixed aged cows from the AAco herd, along with the appropriate bull ratio, for the Alliance Partner's location.
The Alliance Partner will enter into a progeny supply contract with AAco to supply weaner or feeder cattle for up to 300 days after branding. The Alliance Partner will manage the entire cattle breeding process with AAco management support.
The Breeder Alliance Program will provide a number of clear advantages to each Alliance Partner, including limiting upfront capital outlay, access to superior genetics, assistance with livestock management, limited income protection (through forward prices for progeny), flexible structured repayments and increased tax benefits (lease repayments claimable as a business expense).
The Breeder Alliance Program is an important new initiative for AAco. As such, the careful planning and execution of this Program will incorporate factors such as producer competency, corporate social responsibility, health and safety (for our Alliance Partner as well as cattle), appropriate logistics for the supply of pregnancy-tested in calf (PTIC) cows, bulls and weaners entering the progeny supply chain, auditing processes and industry awareness.
